Meet Our Faculty
Kate Mehmel
Assistant Professor, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Kate Mehmel is a Cairn graduate who returned to the University after teaching high school math for 13 years. She (slowly) worked on a MA in Mathematics from Villanova while teaching, coaching, running youth group, and counseling at summer camp. She loves teenagers. She also loves to camp, hike, and generally to be outside, though inside with a book and a cup of coffee is also lovely. She spends most of her time with her toddler Eliana, who is (usually) a delight and in whom she is trying to instill a love of both the outdoors and books.
Kate Bulat
Assistant Professor, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Kate Bulat is a part-time faculty member teaching Mathematics in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Kate began her career in the finance industry after majoring in Finance at Penn State. She then pivoted to mathematics education, where she aimed to use industry experience to make learning math more relevant to students. She obtained her Master in Education and Secondary Ed Mathematical Certification at Cabrini University and taught math at Pennsbury High School for 10 years. She joined Cairn in 2022, excited to integrate her faith into her passion for teaching and math.
Kate also enjoys staying active and teaches classes at a local gym. She lives in Yardley, Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons.
What Our Students Have To Say
Isaac Stiles
It has been a wonderful privilege of mine to explore the infinite world of mathematics at Cairn University. Since Cairn puts such a strong focus on God and on His truth, the school is well-equipped to show how the world of math sings His praise. Our department is really starting to blossom; I look forward to seeing what God teaches us in the future!
