Cairn University’s Department of Special Education offers six graduate programs for professionals seeking to skillfully serve individuals with special needs and their families. With online programs ranging from 12 to 42 credits, Cairn is committed to helping you reach your goals on your schedule, whether using CEUs to gain fresh ideas for teaching diverse learners or pursuing a high-demand credential in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) affect about 1 in 68 school-aged children in the US, and the need for skilled educators continues to grow. Through Cairn’s ASD education programs, teachers can build a toolbox of proven strategies for helping students with autism succeed, based in the research-proven approach of applied behavioral analysis (ABA).

MS in Education + ASD Endorsement

39 credits (6 semesters, including 2 summers)

  • This program may be a good fit for you if you are a Christian professional certified or licensed as one of the following: teacher, principal, school psychologist, guidance counselor, speech and language clinician, occupational or physical therapist, or home and school visitor and
    • looking to improve your ability to serve students with autism and/or
    • interested in earning the internationally-respected Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) credential*

*The BCaBA credential requires 1000 hours of supervised independent fieldwork or 500 hours of intensive practicum hours.

ASD Endorsement (ABA)

12 credits (3 semesters, including 1 summer)

  • This program may be a good fit for you if you are a Christian professional certified or licensed as one of the following: teacher, principal, school psychologist, guidance counselor, speech and language clinician, occupational or physical therapist, or home and school visitor and
    • looking for a focused way to fulfill CEU requirements while earning an in-demand credential and/or
    • looking to improve your ability to serve students with autism through just four online courses and/or
    • interested in earning the internationally-respected Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) credential*

*The BCaBA credential requires 1000 hours of supervised independent fieldwork or 500 hours of intensive practicum hours.
