Meet Our Faculty


Deb Rice
Assistant Professor, School of Business
Deb has an extensive professional background in human resource management, strategic planning, operations management, consulting, and leadership coaching. She has served in a variety of profit and non-profit organizations for over 25 years, including manufacturing, media, faith-based, academia, retail, and agriculture. As a professor, she invests in students to help them gain professional competency, learn to lead effectively, and develop in their Christian faith. Deb is married to Jim and is grateful to be a mom to four grown sons, a mother-in-law, and a grandma.


Joseph Miller
Professor, School of Business
Joe Miller is a licensed attorney and seasoned entrepreneur. Prior to coming to Cairn, his law practice served businesses, non-profits, municipalities, and the general public. Additionally, he’s worn hats as a town supervisor, board director, and certified attorney for children. He’s enthusiastic about helping entrepreneurs turn their ideas into opportunities. Together with his wife Stephanie he has 4 future Highlanders currently aged 12 and under.
