Biography

Baritone Steven Condy, who has built his reputation on his portrayals of the great “buffo” roles, is admired not only for his robust and nuanced voice, but also for his natural acting ability. Renowned for his portrayal of Dr. Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia, he receives rave reviews for his performance with opera companies across the nation, including Boston Lyric Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and San Francisco Opera. He also performed the title roles of Don Pasquale and Falstaff with Utah Opera, Don Magnifico in La cenerentola with Portland Opera and Austin Lyric Opera and Dr. Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore with Washington National Opera. In addition to teaching at Cairn, Mr. Condy is the Director of the Vocal Intensive Study Program at the MasterWorks Summer Music Festival in Winona Lake, Indiana.
