From February 19–21, 2025, the Association for Higher Biblical Education (ABHE) will hold their annual meeting in Orlando, Florida. ABHE’s mission, “Advancing Biblical Higher Education For Kingdom Impact,” means they support institutions and endeavors in educating students to serve the Lord.
This year, President and CEO Dr. Todd J. Williams and Provost Dr. Adam Porcella have been invited to present micro-courses that expound on practical strategies for integrating biblical principles into civics education and faculty recruitment.
Dr. Williams will present on “Biblically Integrated Civics Instruction.” This course will discuss how teaching Government and Civics well is essential to helping college students navigate the dual citizenship that marks the Christian experience. It is an opportunity to equip them to exercise good stewardship of their rights and privileges as citizens. An integrated approach to teaching this subject requires attention to both the content and structure of the course as well as understanding and incorporating the biblical and theological dimensions of the topic in an impactful and accessible way.
Dr. Porcella will present on “Recruiting Mission Fit Faculty.” This course emphasizes the critical role of hiring mission-fit faculty as a chief academic officer. Participants will explore why mission-fit is essential to institutional success, learn practical strategies to evaluate mission alignment in prospective faculty, and understand the value of ongoing assessments with existing faculty to ensure continued alignment. Whether hiring full-time, part-time, or adjunct faculty, this course equips academic leaders to make informed, mission-centered hiring decisions.
