World Reach Week 2020

JANUARY 27–31, 2020

DISCOVER: Increase your awareness and passion for God’s global work and His heart for the world

During this year’s World Reach Week, you will expand your understanding of God’s calling upon a diverse world-wide church to carry out His work around the globe. You will be challenged to confront your assumptions about culture, the church, and missions. You will wrestle with your own perceptions and beliefs regarding what it means to love your global neighbors, and you will be inspired by the way God works through His people.

Keynote Speaker: Randy Fairman

randy_fairmanSIM USA President-designate Randy Fairman sees his life purpose as helping people hear about, love, and obey Jesus. He strives to coach and mentor, and enjoys learning from others.

Randy’s 20-year naval career enabled him to obtain BS, MSME, and Naval Architecture degrees, and earn a PhD from MIT while working on propeller design. He also participated in the concept design of a new submarine class and help lead thousands of people who built it.

In 2007 the Fairmans moved to Central Asia, started a guitar construction workshop, and partnered with others in a sun-dried tomato company. Eventually they started a consulting company, through which they helped other workers start more than a dozen other businesses.

In 2018 Randy joined the SIM International Leadership and Services staff as global director of mission engagement to lead the charge toward empowering new generations, profiles, locations, and sources of finances. He also is SIM’s regional director for North America and the Caribbean.

The Fairmans’ two daughters embraced God’s call on their family. As adults, they continue to walk with Jesus and support their parents’ ministry.

Three-Year Cycle

The educational objectives of World Reach Week run on a three-year cycle. All three years are designed to facilitate the development of important perspectives on the work of missions in the world today. This is year 1, “discover”.

Year 1 – DISCOVER: Increase your awareness and passion for God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will expand your understanding of God’s calling upon a diverse worldwide church to carry out His work around the globe. You will be challenged to confront your assumptions about culture, the church, and missions. You will wrestle with your own perceptions and beliefs regarding what it means to love your global neighbors, and you will be inspired by the way God works through His people.

Year 2 – PREPARE: Increase your effectiveness for service in God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will develop skills for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with your local and global neighbors. You will consider the various ways different people groups best understand the gospel and the impact you can have on those who are not yet followers of Jesus. You will be challenged to share the gospel with others as you fulfill your calling as God’s servant.

Year 3 – COMMIT: Increase your resolve to be part of God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will experience the ways God is working through a variety of initiatives to build His church. You will grapple with how you can serve as God’s ambassador to the world. You will be challenged to pursue your role in God’s global work.
