World Reach Week 2021

SEPTEMBER 13–17, 2021

COMMIT: Increase your resolve to be part of God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will experience the ways God is working through a variety of initiatives to build His church. You will grapple with how you can serve as God’s ambassador to the world. You will be challenged to pursue your role in God’s global work.

Keynote Speaker: Tim D.

TimTim D. has served as the president of a global educational organization since 2002. He has an innovative and strategic vision for reaching the difficult and hard-to-access areas of the world.

He and his wife, Lynn, live in northern Colorado, but they consider many places around the world a “second home” as they travel to visit the organizational family. Currently, Tim’s favorite city is Istanbul, but his favorite food is found in China. He enjoys spending time with his 4 sons, their wives, and 9 grandchildren. Tim loves a good long run and ending the day with a book in hand, likely a story of one of the gritty heroes of history. His favorite weekend would include off-roading in his Jeep Wrangler, and enjoying a breathtaking Colorado sunset. He loves living on the edge and finds inspiration in courageous people.

Tim’s passions come together to empower the next generation to bring lasting impact to the world! Follow him on Instagram (@tdglobal)

Three-Year Cycle

The educational objectives of World Reach Week run on a three-year cycle. All three years are designed to facilitate the development of important perspectives on the work of missions in the world today. This is year 3, “Commit.”

Year 1 – DISCOVER: Increase your awareness and passion for God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will expand your understanding of God’s calling upon a diverse worldwide church to carry out His work around the globe. You will be challenged to confront your assumptions about culture, the church, and missions. You will wrestle with your own perceptions and beliefs regarding what it means to love your global neighbors, and you will be inspired by the way God works through His people.

Year 2 – PREPARE: Increase your effectiveness for service in God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will develop skills for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with your local and global neighbors. You will consider the various ways different people groups best understand the gospel and the impact you can have on those who are not yet followers of Jesus. You will be challenged to share the gospel with others as you fulfill your calling as God’s servant.

Year 3 – COMMIT: Increase your resolve to be part of God’s global work and His heart for the world.

During this year, you will experience the ways God is working through a variety of initiatives to build His church. You will grapple with how you can serve as God’s ambassador to the world. You will be challenged to pursue your role in God’s global work.

What Do Missionaries Do on a Tuesday Morning? Panel Discussion

Tuesday (9/14) from 10:50 am to 12:05 pm in Chatlos Chapel
Do you think all global workers do is preach? You aren’t a preacher, so you are off the hook? Think again. In today’s world, you need a biblical background and professional expertise, which is probably what will get your visa. Another thing: Forget the word “missionary”! Liz Givens, Cairn trustee, will host a panel exploring what skills open the doors globally. Our speaker, Tim D., and three others will pull apart the 2021 world of global ministry.

You Will Never Do Missions!: Overcoming the Seven Greatest Barriers

Tuesday (9/14) from 1:40 pm to 2:55 pm in Manor Hall
“I don’t want to fundraise/I’m in debt.” “My parents don’t want me to go.” “I am single/dating/married/have kids!” “What about my career?” “I’m not sure that I’m called.” “I don’t feel equipped.”

How do we face these obstacles? This workshop will provide practical advice, testimonies, relevant scripture, and space for reflection.

Living Half a World Away

Wednesday (9/15) at 12 pm in the ADR
Leaving behind all that was familiar and known, Noah left the US at age 24 and has spent the last nine years living and working with some of the most unreached of the world. Come and hear how an unknown and easily overlooked corner of Asia is now his permanent home and how living and working overseas in another language and culture became the most exciting and meaningful thing he’s ever done!

Luopads: A Craft that Gives Freedom

Thursday (9/16) from 12 to 2:30 pm in the Upper MAC Lobby
Want to make an impact on women all around the world? Help women reclaim control of their health and lives by providing reusable sanitary products called Luopads. Join us as we trace and cut flannel & towels. Register here.
