Biography

Dr. Lynelle Buchanan served as a dedicated full-time professor at Clarks Summit University (CSU) from 2002 to 2024, eventually rising to the position of dean of the School of Behavioral Sciences. A Nationally Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor, Dr. Buchanan passionately taught counseling courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her time as a student at CSU profoundly shaped her, instilling in her a deep love for God’s Word, which became central to all her classes.

In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Buchanan served as the resident director of Barndollar Hall and later Fletcher Hall for ten years, witnessing God’s transformative work in the lives of countless students. Her passion for being part of God’s work at CSU was unmistakable, driving her commitment to both teaching and student mentorship. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Buchanan had a love for volleyball and often engaged in pick-up games with students and faculty alike.

Dr. Buchanan’s husband, James, also served at CSU as a professor and associate dean of students. Together, they have three children.
