Biography

Emily Waltz started her formal education at Ithaca College. During her years there, she gained training in orchestral, symphonic, pit orchestra, jazz, and chamber ensemble playing. Emily graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in trumpet performance and music education.

Emily furthered her studies by pursuing a master’s degree at Temple University, studying with teachers David Bilger and Tony Prisk of the Philadelphia Orchestra. There, she performed as principal in the Wind Symphony and Opera Orchestra as well as associate principal in the Symphony Orchestra, performing works by composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov, Mozart, Ives, and Brahms. Emily was also an active teacher while at Temple, participating in the Community Music Scholars Program, a weekly music school for students in grades 4–12.

After graduating with her master’s degree in trumpet performance, Emily earned a professional studies certificate from Temple University, under the teaching of David Bilger. She recently finished a two-year recording project with Temple University’s Wind Symphony, which included performing with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Emily is currently a freelancer in the tri-state area, performing in venues such as churches, pit orchestras, and private events. She is also an active teacher at Waldron Mercy Academy and the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus.
