    Born and raised in Philadelphia, Ruth Naomi Floyd began to develop her musical talents at the age of eight, singing in church choirs and studying flute, bassoon, and piano. A vocalist and composer on the international music scene, Ms. Floyd has produced five compact discs dedicated to a jazz expression of the gospel. Critics praise Ms. Floyd’s music for its distinctive sound of progressive jazz improvisation blended with explicit biblical messages of faith in God.

    Ruth Naomi Floyd is also a committed music educator and teaches music at Spruce Hill Christian School, conducts vocal clinics, and lectures on the history and celebration of the African American spirituals. Ruth is married to Rev. Kenyatta Rush, and they have two children, Isaiah and Grace.
