Biography

Dr. Hixson teaches a variety of science courses at Cairn, including Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, and Physical Science. She comes to the University with years of experience in education as well as extensive research in the broad field of chemistry. Dr. Hixson works hard to challenge her students to understand scientific thinking more deeply, yet she affirms that such thinking is ultimately a faithful pursuit as it follows the search for truth. She has been married to her husband, Bryan, for 28+ years, and together they have two daughters.

Prior to teaching at Cairn, Dr. Hixson spent a year at Kigali International Community School in Rwanda, and four years at Oklahoma Christian Univeristy teaching the sciences.
