The Composition major prepares students with the foundation for a life in composition. With an orchestration focus, students prepare music to be performed by various campus ensembles, as well as in a capstone senior recital.

Why Study Composition?

The Music Composition program offers students the opportunity to explore the possibilities of their own unique compositional voice with expert and professional guidance. Specialty coursework includes Advanced Orchestration, Counterpoint, and Vocal Arranging. Students are able to have their works performed by collegiate ensembles and groups. The degree prepares an individual to work in the professional music world.
