Outstanding Young Christian Artist Competition
Saturday, February 1, 2020
Snow Date: February 8
Eligibility: Students in grades 9–12
Entrance fee: $30
Performance Requirements: One movement of a concerto, an opera or oratorio excerpt, or other complete composition for soloist and orchestra. The selected piece must have orchestral parts in print and available. Music must be memorized.
Accompaniment: All auditions must be accompanied. Participants should supply their own accompanist. If necessary, an accompanist will be provided for an additional $50.00 fee. If an accompanist is requested, a copy of the music must be received with registration. Rehearsal time allotted with your accompanist will be proportionate to the length of the piece.
Winners will perform with the Cairn University Symphony Orchestra.
Entry Deadline: Friday, January 10, 2020.
Participants will be notified of their exact audition time approximately one week before the competition. Participants must be able to compete at any time on the competition date—no requests, please. Up to two winners will be announced.
The School of Music reserves the right not to award winners. Approval for concerto and/or aria winner performances pending music availability for the orchestra, namely for works written in the 20th century. Runners-up may be announced and asked to perform if the winner is unable to do so
