DESCRIPTION:Flourishing Classrooms in a Broken World\nIf you’re an educator\, you keep hearing our system is broken—something is not working. It’s a grab bag of complaints: culture wars\, falling test scores\, technology addictions\, and behavior problems. As Christian educators\, we understand the reality of living in a fallen world—brokenness doesn’t surprise us. We’re still called to steward our time with the students in our care; oftentimes\, we’re asked to do so with few resources. How\, then\, can we focus on “redeeming the time” (Eph. 5:16\, KJV) in our classrooms\, offering our students the head and heart skills they’ll need to flourish in this digital age? For this year’s Empowering Educators conference at Cairn University\, we’d like to spend more time doing instead of theorizing. We’ll have the opportunity to try the methods practicing educators are using to mitigate some of the problems we’re facing. DESCRIPTION:Our speaker this year is Dr. Bryan Murawski\, Professor of Old Testament at Cairn University\, teaching in the School of Bible and Theology and Cairn Theological Seminary.  \nThe conference theme is “Preaching and Teaching Difficult Biblical Texts” based on our speaker’s two books\, Preaching Difficult Texts of the Old Testament and Preaching and Teaching Difficult Texts of the New Testament. We affirm that all of Scripture is breathed out by God and therefore profitable. But how that’s true of certain portions isn’t always apparent. Anyone desiring to learn how to more effectively and accurately teach portions of the Bible that are challenging for a variety of reasons is invited to join us. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants will also receive a copy of the book Preaching and Teaching Difficult Texts of the New Testament.  \nRegistration coming soon!
