Concertmaster-David-Kim
David Kim, concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra and artistic director  of the David Kim Orchestral Institute of Cairn University, has been appointed professor of violin studies in the School of Music at Cairn.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Kim to our faculty in the School of Music. His distinguished career, commitment to his Christian faith, character, and artistic vision will bring us to new horizons as a School. We are honored to have him with us as a faculty member,” says Dr. Benjamin Harding, dean of the School of Music.
As part of his duties in the School of Music, Mr. Kim will teach three lessons for each violin major in addition to students’ weekly lessons. Mr. Kim will be on campus once a semester to lecture and hold a master class on chamber music. He will also be involved in recruitment for the violin program at Cairn, bringing talented students to enrich both the School of Music and the community life of the University at large.
In conjunction with his responsibilities as a faculty member, Mr. Kim will continue in his role at Cairn as artistic director of the David Kim Orchestral Institute, assembling faculty from major American orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and The Philadelphia Orchestra.
