Cairn’s 4th Annual Choral Festival

Benjamin-Harding-OpeningThe 4th Annual Cairn Choral Festival was held this past Saturday, April 2, 2016 and featured guest conductor, composer, and executive music editor for Beckenhorst Press, Inc., Mr. Craig Courtney. The concert was presented by the Cairn Choral Music Educator’s Collective.
Mr. Courtney led a choir rehearsal made up of high school, middle school, and homeschool choirs, as well as the Cairn Chorale. Also included in the day’s events were masterclasses led by Mr. Courtney and a rehearsal workshop led by Dr. David Shockey, chair of vocal studies at Cairn. The day ended with a concert featuring individual choirs and culminated with Mr. Craig Courtney conducting his piece, “I Am Not My Own.”
“It was a joy to welcome Craig Courtney back to Cairn’s campus. His heart for the students and their music making was inspiring,” said Dr. Benjamin Harding, dean of the School of Music. “As much as we are excited about the success of our 4th festival, we are so looking forward to welcoming more choirs to our 5th annual festival in 2017.”
The Cairn University School of Music is pleased to have partnered with Jacobs Music, who graciously provided a Steinway & Sons Concert Grand Piano for the day. To learn more about the Cairn Choral Festival and the Cairn Choral Music Educators Collective, visit cairn.edu/ccf.
