The Cairn University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. David Shockey, toured the East Coast on May 2–10, 2015. Traveling from Pennsylvania to Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and New Jersey, the Chorale performed for nearly 1,300 high schoolers, church-goers, and choir members.
Visiting various churches and schools, the Chorale performed in concert for ministry, recruitment, and educational purposes. Some of the pieces they performed were “Cantique de Jean Racine,” “I Can Tell the World,” and the University hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” In North Carolina, the Chorale was joined by Board of Trustees member Liz Givens ’69 and former managing editor of Cairn Carrie Givens ’03 for the piece “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.” Carrie helped lead the Chorale tour to Poland in 2011. Dr. Shockey also led workshops at Grace Academy and Voices of Carolina Homeschool Choir. The positive responses and demand for the 2015 tour have prompted plans for a return to the Carolinas in 2016.
