Cairn University is committed to preparing shepherds and teachers for the local church.
Our desire is to develop in students the desire, ability, and confidence to care for the people of God, lead them spiritually, and teach them well. The Master of Divinity degree is often the preferred degree for entry into vocational ministry.
The Cairn Master of Divinity degree program includes studies in Greek and Hebrew, hermeneutics, the biblical text, theology, and homiletics. These areas are studied as a connected whole. Integral to this study is a curriculum focused on pastoral ministry, leadership development, and communication. The in-depth study of original languages allows students to interact with original texts throughout their studies and beyond.
The Master of Divinity program combines academic study with ministry experience, requiring capstone coursework in biblical exegesis and ministry. As biblical and theological study integrates with the activities of daily life and vocation, students find themselves and their ministries transformed. A diverse community of learners aids in the exploration and understanding of biblical truth and church doctrine. Throughout their studies, students work closely with advisors in the church and University faculty who assist them in the application of what is being learned.
“I was discipled and forever changed as a result of coming to Cairn. I value what I have learned biblically and relationally so much more now that I am finished. I had relationships with many of my professors that went beyond the classroom and we still keep in touch.”
