    Professor Cheryl Nitz teaches in Cairn University’s School of Social Work.

    Professor Nitz has worked 30 years of experience working with children and their families, including direct practice and 15 years of program development and administration.

    Prior to teaching at Cairn, Professor Nitz served as Lead Master Trainer for Pennsylvania’s IATI Training Program and as a certified American Red Cross Instructor for HIV/AIDS education.  As director of foster care in a private agency, she helped pioneer Philadelphia’s first program providing foster care services and support to children with HIV/AIDS and their families.  She also helped launch a program for medically fragile children requiring out-of-home placement.

    In addition to teaching at Cairn, she is the co-founder and director of a clinical practice specializing in individual and family therapy for issues related to trauma, attachment, and adoption.  She provides clinical supervision, staff development, and training around the U.S. for parents & professionals on these topics.
