“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching, and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing, psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God the Father through Him.” (Col. 3:16)
On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Cairn University held its second annual Hymn Sing. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends arrived on campus to celebrate and worship together by singing traditional and contemporary hymns.
The event was kicked off with a warm welcome from Dr. Todd Williams, Cairn University president. He reflected on the blessing that it is to be able to gather and worship as a community in Christ. A variety of hymns were sung, such as “How Great Thou Art,” “It is Well with My Soul,” “In Christ Alone,” and “Be Thou My Vision,” among other favorites. Attendees were also edified by a word from the president and a performance of three songs by the Cairn Chorale. The event closed with a singing of the University hymn, “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
With over 200 attendees, Cairn’s Hymn Sing is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated events of the spring. Praise God for the opportunity to gather together, be encouraged, and strengthen our faith through corporate praise and worship!
