On July 9, 2012 Philadelphia Biblical University became Cairn University. In May, the University’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to change the name of the school followed by authorization from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the use of the new name. With that, PBU became Cairn University.
The decision is the result of more than a full year of discussions regarding the vision for the University by an experienced Board with a deep commitment to biblical higher education and the mission of the school.
The institution is approaching 100 years in existence and we will celebrate the great faithfulness of God throughout its history as PSOB, BIOP, PBI, PCB, and PBU. Since its founding in 1913, the school had been breaking new ground, reaching new heights, developing new programs, and extending its reach while keeping first things first.
Cairn University exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated, and professionally competent men and women of character. Students at Cairn are encouraged to Walk a Different Path.
With diverse and rigorous undergraduate and graduate academic programs, a dynamic campus life, and the personal investment of faculty, a Cairn education emphasizes biblical integration, the cultivation of wisdom, and strategic engagement with the world.
